Ear Protection (PPE)
Workers that may be exposed to excessive noise in their working environment must use appropriate PPE; Eear plugs, muffs, or both when engineering or administrative controls are not feasible to reduce noise exposure.
- Ear plugs: Are inserted in the ear canal.
- Semi-insert ear plugs: Two ear plugs held over the ends of the ear canal by a rigid headband.
- Ear muffs: Sound-attenuating material and soft ear cushions that fit around the ear and hard outer cups.
